Research Into Logo's of Teen Magazines

 


New York and London is the main feel behind the NYLON logo its meant to represent what cool in the 2 famous cities.  The logo is simple and using a bold font - there is no fuss and people know what it is when they see the logo.

Elle Girl was a sister magazine to Elle and when companies have a sister which is so close in style they want to keep that visual link to the magazine by keeping it in the logo.  The 'girl' part is a lot bigger and in a bolder font to stand out.



Seventeen magazine is exactly what the title says - it is meant to represent the mass teen market.  The font is very simple and in pink and takes up the whole top section of the magazine.  It is all in lower case letters and sums up the median age of their reader.



Another sister magazine: Cosmopolitan is shortened down to Cosmo with 'girl' scrawled over in what is meant to look like lipstick.  Cosmo Girl is meant to appeal to the more adult teen so I think thats why they made it seem more adult with the darker colours.


Teen Vogue is a sister to the sophisticated Vogue and they have kept the Vogue title but made it a lot smaller.  They want to appeal to the teen fashionistas - the colours used are very classic (red,black and white) and the 'teen' part of the logo is very simple in design.
